NSCP Effective Strategy Discussions Level 3
Whenever there is reasonable cause to suspect that a child or unborn child is suffering, or is likely to suffer, significant harm, there should be a strategy discussion/meeting. We would like to offer a new course for 2026.
Learning aims
- Clarify when Strategy Discussions should be convened, and who should be involved in the discussions.
- Clarify the purpose of Strategy Discussions, the format, timescales and intended outcomes.
- Consider roles and responsibilities of all partner organisations within strategy discussions.
- To understand when a single agency or joint agency investigation (Section 47 Enquiry) is required following the initial strategy discussion.
Target audience
This event is aimed at staff who work directly with children and families and as part of their role would be expected to take part in strategy discussions or strategy meetings. E.g. police, social care managers, health staff and safeguarding leads.
