NSCP Decision Making and Disguised Compliance Level 3

This event facilitates discussion and addresses concerns about working with families who are partially compliant or deliberately mislead agencies.

This is a full days course being offered via Microsoft Teams: 9.30 to 12.30 and 1.30 to3.30 (you must be able to attend both morning and afternoon session if you book onto this event). This course is delivered by Ruth Pearson who has 25 years’ experience in the field of child protection, originally as a practicing social worker and subsequently as a Senior Practitioner in Child Protection. Ruth brings the training alive with many examples of practice linking in with her extensive experience. N.B. Aims

  • To facilitate discussion and address concerns about working with families who are partially compliant or deliberately mislead agencies
  • Gain further understanding of patterns of behaviour that indicate deception and risk
  • Develop skills of authoritative practice and assertiveness to identify and challenge mis-direction and non-cooperation, including the practice of ‘respectful uncertainty’
  • Develop awareness of implications of  issues of ‘over-optimism’ and ‘confirmation bias’  

Target Audience

Staff who are involved in working with Complex Cases, work directly with children and families and regularly contribute to family assessments.

Course Charges

 Reminder charges may be applicable to some organisations who do not contribute financially to the Partnership. E.g. Schools, District & Borough Councils , Fire and Rescue service, large charities. For more details please see our charging table on our training page of our website.

Trainer 

This course is delivered by Ruth Pearson (who has delivered other courses for the NSCP such as Neglect/Working with Intimidation, Resistance  & Avoidance). She has 25 years’ experience in the field of child protection, originally as a practicing social worker and subsequently as a Senior Practitioner in Child Protection.
