Early Help Strategy 2021 to 2025

In Nottinghamshire all partners are committed to working together to ensure children, young people and families receive the right support at the right time. We know that timely support provided early in the life of the child, or soon after the emergence of a problem, prevents problems escalating and maximises opportunities for children to thrive.  The Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership’s Early Help Strategy [PDF] sets out the following areas that we will prioritise over the next four years to improve Early Help services for Children and Families in Nottinghamshire:

• Community Resilience – promoting and supporting communities to be resilient
• Family Hubs – bringing in a range of teams who serve the local community together to ensure joint working
• Contextual Approaches – developing our Whole Family Approach to include the wider context in which a child is growing up
• Data Maturity– improving the way we use data to improve services for families.

Child Neglect Strategy

Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership launched its new Child Neglect Strategy [PDF] at the Partnership Forum on 18 May 2021. The Strategy has been developed jointly with Nottingham City and sets out  what the Partnerships intend to do over the next 3 years to prevent neglect and minimise its impact. The Strategy identifies 3 key objectives; Recognise, Respond and Reflect and Review. Shared priorities under each objective provide a focus for the work so that all partner organisations can develop their own response and contribute towards the aims of the Strategy and improve outcomes for children who live in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Child Death Review Arrangements

The child death review partners, defined as the local authority for that area and any clinical commissioning groups operating in the local authority area, are responsible for carrying out child death reviews. The joint Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City Child Death Review Arrangements report to the Strategic Leadership Groups of the Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and the Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Partnership.
