Adoption East Midlands launched in 2019 as a collaborative venture between Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire councils to provide a regional adoption service. Adoption East Midlands provides all aspects of adoption recruitment, assessment, family finding, and the coordination of adoption support services. We are a successful child-focused service, making a real difference to the lives of children and adoptive families.

Youth worker

We are looking to recruit a youth worker to a new and exciting project being undertaken by Adoption East Midlands to develop a multi-disciplinary team. This is a fixed term post for 12 months in a newly established project.
Your role will involve working with partner agencies, such as education, health, and social care workers. A key part of the role is to support young people in a trauma informed way and with a youth work approach. 
You will work in a strength-based way and aim to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people adopted and their families. You will be expected to work creatively as part of a team to develop the youth offer within AEM, and to participate in the wider role of the AEM strategic MDT group and working closely and alongside the Nottinghamshire Youth Service.
You will be committed and passionate about adoption issues and it is desirable to have some working knowledge of this specialist area, or of working from a trauma informed perspective.

Family peer network coordinator

We are looking to recruit to this exciting new role within Adoption East Midlands as part of the ongoing development of our commitment to adopter participation and incorporating lived experience into service development and our wider support offer.

This is a newly established post in response to the development of adopter voice participation and lived experience into our service offer.

You will be expected to work creatively alongside AEM staff to develop an adopter peer mentoring service 'Peers4Peers' through the recruitment, development, training and support of experienced adopter peer mentor volunteers. 'Peers4Peers' will enable peer mentors to support adopters at different stages in their adoption journey through 1:1 work, small groups, drop-in sessions, and have a remit to diffuse adopter experience throughout the training offer within the wider service. Peer mentors will provide advice and guidance, whilst acting as a positive role model for people who require their support.

Adoption panel membership

We don't have any vacancies for panel members at this time however, we are driven to increase the diversity of our panels in respect of having a better mix of panel members from various ethnic origins. We welcome expressions of interest if you feel you can add value to our panels in this respect. You must also have recent relevant adoption experience.
